On 9 December 2023, the Council and the European Parliament reached a political agreement on the AI Act. The final compromise text of the AIA encapsulating the political agreement and the compromises is finally publicly available HERE.
Changes made by the compromise concern mainly the definition of an AI system, prohibited AI practices, post-remote bometric identification, exceptions for law enforcement authorities, a fundamental rights impact assessment, testing high-risk AI systems outside AI regulatory sandboxes, general purpose AI models, governance and enforcement, derogation from conformity assessment, obligations for AI systems already put in place on the market, implementing and delegated acts, penalties, and entry into application.
